Schesir Fruit Selection is a complementary food and must therefore be paired with a complete food, dry or wet. Pairing it with kibble in particular makes it possible to create a mix feeding plan that combines different foods within a complete and balanced diet. Like all complementary foods, it must not be used on its own as the main food.
Can cats eat fruit even though they are carnivores?
Yes, but only in small quantities within a complete and balanced diet. The cat is a carnivore and fruit must not account for a significant part of its diet, as it would provide unnecessary amounts of sugars and fibre. In Schesir Fruit Selection recipes it is used exclusively in small quantities as a topping.
Can cats metabolise the sugars naturally present in fruit?
Yes. Proprietary scientific research found very low levels of fructose in the urine of cats fed recipes containing small quantities of fruit. This indicates that most of the fructose was metabolised by the body and that cats are able to use the sugars present in fruit when it is included in small quantities within a balanced diet.
